Stability of potato clones resistant to potato virus Y under subtropical conditions

چکیده

Abstract Brazilian potato production is based on cultivars originating from the USA and Europe; however, these were developed under different environmental conditions than those found in Brazil. The aim of this study was to evaluate adaptability stability 18 clones (MLG), by Universidade Federal de Lavras, four six environments state Minas Gerais, following traits evaluated: marketable tuber yield (MTY), specific gravity (SG), appearance (TA). Clones, environments, genotype × environment interaction had significant effects all traits. GGE-biplot explained 71.78, 98.13, 62.86 % sum squares G+G×E for MTY, SG, TA, respectively. Three MLG higher stability, as well better performance, cultivars, making them good candidates release cultivars.

SCAR marker for the selection of Ry-duplex potato clones immune to potato virus Y

Vegetative propagation of potato allows the dissemination of viruses that can cause drastic drops in tuber yield. Potato virus Y (PVY) is one of the most important viruses of potato due to the non-persistent mode of transmission through vector insects. Genetic resistance is the recommended control measure since the chemical control of vector insects is not effective. This study aimed to identif...

Investigation on the reaction of Iranian oriental and semi oriental tobacco genotypes to Potato Virus Y (PVY) under controlled conditions

Potato virus Y (PVY) as one of the serious diseases on tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.), reduces leaf yield and its quality. Use of re-sistant genotypes is being considered as the most effective, economical and a safe way to reduce damages of the virus. In the present study, the response of 90 oriental and semi-oriental tobacco genotypes was evaluated against PVY using randomized complete block d...

Heterologous Expression of Potato Virus Y Coat Protein, Isolate Pot187

Background: The advent of recombinant DNA technology has facilitated heterologous expression of proteins from various sources in different host systems including Escherichia coli. If a plant virus coat protein is expressed in the bacterium it can be used as the antigen for antibody preparation. Such a recombinant antigen preparation can be particularly useful where equipment such as ultracentri...

Comment on Schubert, Matoušek and Supp: Stability of pathogen-derived Potato virus Y resistance in potato under field conditions and some aspects of their ecological impact

Modern methods of pest control have tended to rely on a single method, whether it be a pesticide or a gene coding for resistance embedded using modern biotechnology tools in the crop itself. An important advantage of integrated pest management (IPM) over reliance on a single tool is that the repeated application of the single method rapidly leads to pest resistance to the tool. Using a variety ...

Induction of Resistance to Potato Virus Y (PVY) Using Hairpin Construct of Coat Protein

Potato virus Y (PVY) is one of the most damaging viruses of potato plants which infecting most cultivars and causing significant yield and economical losses. The application of the concept of pathogen derived resistance opened new horizons for the development of virus-resistant plants. This research was carried out to study RNA silencing to engineered potato plants that are resistant to potato ...
